About me

I Began my career as a dentist thirteen years ago when I qualified with honours from Trinity college Dublin. During my years of practicing dentistry I gradually found myself working more and more with anxious patients.

Whilst I have always had a natural interest in people and personality, an increasing interest and quest for knowledge led me to London to study other ways of helping these patients. I discovered hypnosis and related skills such as Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).

These learning’s transformed my personal and professional life. I finally had the insight I needed to assist patients to assist themselves in my surgery. I became more aware of my own process and understood why I previously found myself frustrated. I was working on a different dimension using simple NLP techniques to work people out. Days in practice became more interesting and I really began to feel I was learning again. I managed staff and stress much more easily everything seemed different all round. I continued to learn. Inevitably my patients began to pick up on my skills and asked me to work with them on other issues.

Having fully qualified in these areas I have taken some time out of dental practice and now work in the application of hypnosis and NLP in a therapeutic setting.
I have gradually become more involved in the Professional bodies working in this area such as the British Society of Medical and Dental Hypnosis Metropolitan and south (BSMDH mets and south) and the Hypnosis and Psychosomatic Medicine section of the Royal Society of Medicine. I work at committee level on both societies to encourage others to nurture an interest in this area. I also participate in the hypnosis training of the BSMDH (mets & south). I have been approached frequently regarding providing training in these areas for health care professionals. I have acted on these requests and further qualified to train and certify NLP practitioners.

This qualification is of powerful advantage to the relationship between the patient and those they turn to regarding their health. We need only be a patient once to acknowledge the importance of this interface. This insight allows us to strengthen that relationship effortlessly to provide the care we have committed to.

All those working with patients in the health care sector should be given the benefit of insight into the difference between people and the way they process information. I am now using my natural love of teaching to ensure this training is widely available. I currently do workshops with the vocational training schemes in the UK and in Ireland. I continue to improve my knowledge and skills attending courses and studying privately.

I firmly believe that a good understanding of NLP will revolutionise any practitioners approach and in due course this will improve the perception of our professions by the public.
I also believe that learning is for life. We are never too old to learn something new. If you are reading this thinking “I'm already clinically competent, I am over my learning curve, in my comfort zone” I challenge you to be even better. I also believe that learning should be easy and enjoyable. I work hard to ensure trainings are relaxed and good fun.

I live in London with my husband and enjoy the access that gives me to others working in this field. I look forward to a future return to Ireland when I hope some of those I have trained will be teaching me things they have learned. I do believe together we will make a difference.
