Frequently Asked Questions

Is it necessary to do a full six day certification course?
It is not necessary but it is advisable. Working in health care you are tuned to understanding systems and applications fully and will want to know why things work the way they do. In order to acquire a full understanding and a broad tool kit of applications it is advisable to complete the full practitioner course.

Don't I know most of this already?
You may intuitively have picked up or developed some of the skills which are taught. In those instances the learning will come from understanding some of the science behind this natural modification of behaviour. If you feel you have perfected your communication skills why not expand your application of it and begin to instigate positive change in patients or perhaps clear a phobia or restore confidence. Why not learn how to explain what you do naturally to others in your work environment in a way they can actually model.

Why this training and not other NLP certification trainings?
This approach to the certification training has been designed specifically with health care professionals in mind. This ensures it feels relevant and useful on a day to day basis. It is packaged with time limitations of busy practises in mind. The course ensures that participants leave motivated and with clear direction on where to start on Monday morning. Most other trainings are designed for those who wish to use NLP in coaching or in therapy where the focus is completely on a particular issue or behaviour. Our course is designed for individuals who experience a demand for attention on many different fronts including diagnosis and treatment planning simultaneously. This is a very important distinction and the sole reason why fresh perspective limits intake to those in a health care arena. This distinction also permits the training to be delivered effectively using common health care language and biological reference without unnecessarily lengthy explanation. This obviously facilitates maximum learning.

Will it really make a difference to my practice?
Have you noticed at the end of a day it is not the ten easy patients you carry home with you it's the one difficult one. Why are they difficult? They are usually not like you they are different. They react differently. Often they behave in a way you would never consider and find completely inappropriate. You can't engage them and often get the feeling they just don't like you. How do you handle it? Do you console yourself “well they aren't in every day” or “I'll only do the absolute minimum” or “I'll think of all the nice patients I have”?
How different will their visit be...

  1. When you are a step ahead, in control and can understand why they behave as they do.
  2. When you can say and do things in a way that makes them feel comfortable around you.
  3. When you manage the entire visit and don't spend the time fire fighting.
  4. When you can leave knowing they were offered the same options as any other patient and received the same level of care.
  5. When the patient leaves content and the staff are impressed by your management.

Of course it will make a difference.

Will it improve my understanding of business and staff?
Very often in health care YOU are your business. NLP teaches you how to be more resourceful, flexible, focused and approachable. This ripples out through all of your business. You will learn to set goals and visions for your practice and to select staff suited to your practice. NLP gives you the confidence to explore your weakest areas and encourages you to tackle it step by step. It translates your limitations and your potential so you can achieve what you want to in your business.

Is the course difficult?
There is a high volume of learning in this course. The course has been condensed to six days to facilitate those who find it difficult to take time out of practice. The learning is not academically challenging and extremely interesting so the feed back has always been that it is totally manageable. Since this training is designed with busy people in mind an extensive pre-learn pack is provided so that reading can be done in advance at the participants leisure. Brid will be available by e-mail between training weekends and is always happy to explain anything should clarification be required. The training is relaxed so questions will be accommodated on training and after where possible.

What is the certification?
The certification is by Brid Hendron on behalf of the American Board of NLP. This is the largest internationally recognised body of NLP in the world and all training is carried out to their specification. This qualification is also recognised by the UK NLP Board.

Is it worth it?
At its inception fresh perspective decided to focus on quality and professionalism and not on high volume or large numbers. The courses are professionally run in excellent venues with full resource kits. The numbers are restricted to facilitate maximum learning and to make sure you learn what you need. Many other health care courses deal with an aspect of a subject which is already familiar to the participants. We are faced with the challenge of delivering an entirely new subject start to finish and ensuring you leave wondering why you didn't do this years ago. The question is can you afford not to know this? How much is making your practice the practice of choice in your area worth? How do you place value on improving yourself? How much is it worth to your patients to see clearly that you have invested in making their experience in your presence as pleasant and easy as possible. Often we are quick to invest large sums of money in equipment and facilities why not in yourself? Are you worth it?
